King Edwards Netball Competition
On the 6th March, Class 3 went to King Edwards High School to participate in a Year 5 and 6 Netball tournament. There was 5 rounds but each of the 5 teams played in 4 of them. The first match was a Woodseaves derby, Woodseaves A vs Woodseaves B. We started well but Woodseaves A scored within the first 5 minutes, and then it was half-time. Second half and we improved our play but it wasn’t enough to redeem ourselves, Final score 1-0. Our second game was against Haughton St. Giles 2. The umpire blew the whistle and from the start we dominated play. Then we moved towards the semi-circle and Sam took a shot and scored. After that Josh scored 2 more goals to secure our victory. Round 3 and it was Haughton 1 this time. As soon as the game started they were all over us, their attacks came flying in and the result was 7-0 to Haughton!!! We rested for a game. Then it was the final round, Woodseaves B vs Castlechurch. Once the umpire blew the whistle we started to attack in an instant, we had ended the first half 2-0 up. In the second half we scored 2 more. The final result was that we finished 3rd. We enjoyed the tournament and next year were in it to win it! :-)
In search of a stream at Cannock chase
On a scorching hot day in September, class 3 visited an amazing forest called Cannock Chase, in search of a stream. We discovered some unexpected sights too! ….
We all walked along the stoney trail to the river, which seemed to go on forever! Phew!
Mrs. Sproston noticed two Stags walking amongst the bracken! Wow! What an unforgettable sight! Mrs Copestake wasn’t quick enough with the camera though!
On arriving at the river, we began sketching our sections. The river was lovely and clear with what Lucio thought was a lobster! Ha Ha! (It was a Crayfish really!) And later on , he also shouted out PANTHER! but it was a black cat! ha ha!
Next we measured the depth, width and velocity of the river, with our measuring sticks.
Unfortunately before we knew it, it was time to leave. What a fantastic day!!
We hope you enjoyed reading about our trip. Best wishes, Class 3
